This mobile harvesting system automates large-scale vertical farming and can be connected to multiple farm units. The system uses a mobile car that travels along the plant troughs, collecting vegetables as it moves. The harvested produce is then transported through the system, where it is cut and collected. This solution significantly reduces the labor and time required for harvesting, a traditionally time-consuming and labor-intensive process.
After collection by the Mobile Car, the produce in their cups are channelled through the pipe interface, where they would slide in right down to the cutter for cutting. Through the process of cutting the cups and produce are separated into two baskets, reducing sorting and post-processing time for operators.
Users are greeted by an overview of Singapore EXPO through an interactive 3D model. The currently inaccessible rooftop farm @ EXPO is displayed through high quality videos. An exciting animation of how the project’s automation system quickly harvests rows of plants are shown.

At Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD), we believe that the power of design roots from the understanding of human experiences and needs, to create for innovation that enhances and transforms the way we live. This is why we develop a multi-disciplinary curriculum delivered v ia a hands-on, collaborative learning pedagogy and environment that concludes in a Capstone project.
The Capstone project is a collaboration between companies and senior-year students. Students of different majors come together to work in teams and contribute their technology and design expertise to solve real-world challenges faced by companies. The Capstone project will culminate with a design showcase, unveiling the innovative solutions from the graduating cohort.
The Capstone Design Showcase is held annually to celebrate the success of our graduating students and their enthralling multi-disciplinary projects they have developed.
